Entrevaux

Perched on a rocky spur above a loop in the Var river, Entrevaux, the Gateway to France on its South-East frontier, is proud of its two thousand year-old rich and turbulent past.

History has left Entrevaux with narrow, tall houses, squares and fountains, Genoa tiles in three rows under the roofs, balconies, twisting alleyways and impractical staircases, barracks and bartizans, a bridge and towers, guard-house and loopholes, stalls and shops, a Cathedral with sumptuous two-leaved carved walnut doors, all bearing witness to the active life in the past which have you dreaming and fire your imagination.

Surrounded by olive groves on terraces and set in the limestone polished by the centuries, under an ever-blue sky, Entrevaux is a place filled with history and charm, a privileged site for tourism and a stage in French history.
